Hong Kong Certificate of Good Standing vs Certificate of Continuing Registration
They are both the same certificate. Issued by the Companies Registry, the certificate is legal proof that your company is in good standing and continuing its registration. Basically, it certifies that your company is all good and clear in the country with no bad standing.
This is applicable to local limited companies or a non-Hong Kong company that is registered under the Companies Ordinance. The document will contain your company name and date of registration or incorporation. However, this certificate is not a replacement for your Certificate of Incorporation. You would still need to apply for that separately.
In Hong Kong, the Certificate of Good Standing or Certificate of Continuing Registration is widely accepted as proof your company is registered.
How Do I Apply for It?
Applications can be made online under the Registry’s Cyber Search Centre. Alternatively, applications can be made in-person at the Registry’s office. The office is located at 66 Queensway, Hong Kong.
If you apply online, you can opt to collect your certificate in person at the centre or have it delivered to you. If you applied on-site, then you would need to collect it in person.
Your certificate will generally be ready for collection within 6-hours from the time of application. If you chose to have it delivered to you, it will be dispatched within 6-hours from the time you order. This is only applicable to working days only.
